The mission of National CASA/GAL, together with its state and local members, is to support and promote court‐appointed volunteer advocacy so that every abused or neglected child can be safe, establish permanence and have the opportunity to thrive. Today, only 45% of the abused or neglected children in the system have access to a CASA/GAL volunteer. The National CASA/GAL organization is committed to ensuring 100% of these children have access to a CASA volunteer. Breaking New Ground National CASA/GAL has developed a strategic framework that is informing and guiding our efforts through a major reorganization, development of a new business model, and plan for the future direction of the organization, including the launching of a major Capital Campaign. The leadership team that will drive these changes will be strategic thinkers, relationship builders, collaborative decision-makers, entrepreneurial achievers, effective communicators, change leaders, inspiring motivators, and culturally competent. Position Summary The Data and Analytics Officer will be responsible for directing the ongoing development of research data platforms and associated data and analytics services within National CASA/GAL. The Officer will utilize and provide data-driven analytics and insights to guide fact-based decision making, with the goal of maximum growth optimization and organizational reach. The position will enhance the capability of the organization by using advanced data and analytics techniques and technologies. As part of the leadership team, the Officer will contribute to strategic planning, organizational development, and effort prioritization. The Data and Analytics Officer should have strong data infrastructure and data analytics skills, a proven track record of using data and analytics to inform strategy and decisions across a large, variable national organization, strong operational skills to drive efficiency and speed, strong project management leadership, and a solid vision for how data and analytics can proactively accelerate the work of the organization in its mission of serving all children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Primary Responsibilities * Develop a data and analytics strategy to enable business outcomes and growth * Ensure data is relevant, appropriate and managed and evaluated effectively * Develop key performance indicators * Evaluate child/family and network program data, developing statistical models and algorithms to provide accurate and informed meaningful conclusions * Identify and convey important data and trends * Develop best practices across the end to end delivery of data and analytic solutions and driving an increased level of metrics management and accountability * Execute the strategy and design based influenced by data analytics to build a future-ready foundation that can scale and pivot with needs * Contribute to the organization’s development and growth (both new program and organic growth) through the use of advanced analytics in proposal development as well as by designing specific analytics for use in guiding strategy and growth * Helps prepare annual network reports, including the State of the States, and aggregate state survey reports * Interface and partner with key organization stakeholders across the network to understand needs and expectations * Maintain deep knowledge and points-of-view on cutting edge technologies, tools, platforms and partners relevant to use and application of data analytics to inform organizational growth and development Experience, Qualifications and Abilities * Master’s degree or PhD in statistics, mathematics, economics, business, or another quantitative field strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree required. * 7-10 years of progressive work experience in a similar or related position, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience * 7+ years developing and working with data analytics leading to strategy and growth decisions * Experience with large, complex national organization with non-profit experience helpful * Working knowledge of advanced statistics and data modeling techniques, including regression and classification techniques, as well as use of techniques and tools appropriate for analysis of both structured and unstructured data * Ability to derive relevant insights from diverse sources of data, both quantitative and qualitative, including published sources, syndicated data, and proprietary data, and then translating those insights into specific strategies and recommendations * Ability to influence business strategies and decisions based on analytic insight; ability to influence senior organization decision makers * Ability to advise leadership in clear language about results, recommendations, and new directions * Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills as well as critical thinking skills * Understands how to identify and assess trends in child welfare * Establishes culture of teamwork and collaboration in all facets of the organization * Maintains strong cross-functional networks and relationships * Leverages relationships and influences to help resolve internal and external challenges * Resilient work ethic with capability to adapt to the situation, work with flexibility and nimbleness in terms of work planning and ability to think quickly * Required technical skills include the following: • Proficiency in R or comparable • Knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning and predictive modeling (including SPSS) • A variety of data formats and markup languages • Common data storage mediums (e.g. SQL, Excel, Access) • Experience with workflow scheduling • Hands-on experience with big data platforms • Proficient in data visualization tools (including Tableau) and data collection systems Salary and Benefits National CASA/GAL offers a competitive salary plus benefits, and generous paid leave including vacation and sick leave.
