UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA HEALTH SCIENCES CENTER CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY RESIDENCY WITH EMPHASIS IN CHILD CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY Applications are currently being accepted for the OUHSC Clinical Psychology Residency Program with the emphasis in Child Clinical Psychology. The training is based on the scientist/practitioner model. The Postdoctoral Residency Program emphasizes the training and development of psychologists who can assume leadership roles in clinical service delivery, research, and teaching. As such, all Residents receive innovative training in service delivery and engage in active research programs. Residents are required to spend at least 51% of their time in clinical activities and can spend the remaining time in research and professional development activities. Residents are required to attend the program’s didactics as well as complete a research project. They typically join ongoing faculty projects, but opportunities for independent research exist as well. Grant writing opportunities are available and strongly encouraged. POSITIONS Child Clinical Psychology – (1 position available): In this area, the Resident will have a wide range of clinical experiences with children and families involved in child maltreatment through the Center on Child Abuse and Neglect. Residents will have the opportunity to provide evidence-based treatment interventions with children who have been traumatized, children and adolescents with sexual behavior problems, and infants and children from substance abusing families. Residents can join a research teams led by faculty members in child welfare research; dissemination and implementation in evidence-based practice, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and SafeCare(r); adverse childhood experiences; and/or child maltreatment fatalities. In addition to clinical experiences and research in this position, the Resident will participate in the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Child Abuse and Neglect (ITP), a specialized training program for advanced students from psychology, medicine, law, social work, public health, and related disciplines. The Resident will be encouraged to develop their own research projects, participate in writing grant applications, and submit manuscripts for publication. APPLICATION and SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants must have completed all requirements of an APA/CPA-approved doctoral program in psychology and a one-year APA/CPA approved internship. Applications need to be submitted through the APPIC Psychology Postdoctoral Application Centralized Application System (APPA-CAS). Deadline for applications is January 3, 2025. The Program will also accept applications from individuals who have completed all requirements of a university-based APA/CPA-approved program of postdoctoral education for retraining in clinical or counseling psychology. The program must conform to the guidelines established by the APA Council of Representatives.
Each applicant is to submit a complete set of application materials. In order to have your application reviewed the following are required; Curriculum vitae, a cover letter stating professional goals for the postdoctoral residency and graduate transcript.
Material should include:
1. A letter of interest that includes a discussion of training and career goals, including the status of your dissertation and/or completeness of all doctoral degree requirements.
2. A copy of your curriculum vitae containing background information, academic and clinical experience.
3. Three letters of reference (please have the letter writer submit directly to Ms. States).
4. A copy of your graduate transcript.
A selection committee will be reviewing each application. Interviews will be conducted virtually and telephone interviews are available, if necessary. Program Orientation will be conducted on the following dates: Friday, Jan. 10, Wednesday, Jan. 15 and Friday, Jan. 17. Interviews will be scheduled and conducted according to faculty and candidate availability.
The Postdoctoral Residency start date is the last working day of August.
