Abstract

The National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System, Agency File (State Summary), FFY- 2014 dataset consists of State-specific data of all investigated reports of maltreatment to State child protective service agencies. The NCANDS is a federally-sponsored national data collection effort created for the purpose of tracking the volume and nature of child maltreatment reporting each year within the United States. These data are collected within the federal fiscal year (FFY October 1, 2013 – September 30, 2014) rather than the calendar year.

State Level records are reported for 52 cases (50 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico) through the Agency File. Data on funding of services, number of children screened out, number of Child Protective Services staff, preservation services, reunification, and child fatalities are included. Data are provided in MS Excel (.xlsx) and tab delimited (.tab) format.
